Fall Gathering #3 held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020
A-OK held its third distance gathering at Sibley Park, on Wednesday, October 14, at 4:00 pm. The weather was windy and brisk, but we managed to accomplish a lot in less than an hour. Updates were given on the status of the masks being assembled, and plans will be finalized in a small group session that will meet on Thursday, October 15.
The fundraiser will involve a pop-up sale at Curiosi-Tea House in North Mankato, October 30 & 31.
We will have a two hour block, probably during the noon hour to sell the masks, with invitations sent to A-OK members and friends in the next few days via email and social media. We will have pictures of our masks coming, and they are beautiful! There are three styles being produced, one for children and two styles for adults, primarily women. A-OK member have donated their time and materials for these masks, and we expect to have a great fundraiser, which will benefit our Feed and Read Program this winter.

Fall 2020
September and October, 2020 Meetings
We've had three meetings so far this fall. It's been a challenge to schedule due to COVID guidelines, but we were able to hold three meetings at Sibley Park, and they've been very productive!
A-OK is working on its project to raise money for this winter's Feed and Read Program. We are designing and producing face masks in three different designs, which we will be selling to members and friends at an upcoming fundraiser pop-up to be held at Curiosi-Tea House in North Mankato on Oct. 30 & 31. If you would like to work at the pop-up, please let Beth know.

Winter/Spring 2020
February and March, 2020 Meetings
The February and March meetings were held on Monday, February 3, and Monday, March 9 at the North Mankato Police Annex.
Discussion and reports were centered on recent activities with Mankato's My Place (formerly Boys and Girls Club), as well as fundraiser ideas for next season's Winter Break Feed and Read.
My Place has begun a new tutoring program with members of A-OK, who are volunteering for hourly slots with students one-on-one. If you are interested in helping to tutor My Place students, contact Kinney at our email address: aokmankato@gmail.com

January 7, 2020 Meeting ~ Happy New Year!
A-OK met on Tuesday, January 7, for it's monthly meeting and dinner. A socializing game was played in groups that involved a scavenger hunt with purses. The Gold Color group won the game handily, and all participants won a can of Campbell's soup!
The meeting involved reports on current activities taking place, including a recap of the Winter Break Feed and Read, mentors volunteering at My Place (Boys and Girls Club) during the holiday break, and early spring cleaning efforts at My Place. A-OK's mission is to help provide outreach and support to area children, so strategic planning is beginning to take place, which will evolve over our next several meetings. We will also look at fund raising options, and we invite members to volunteer on committees to help shape ideas in these areas.

The scavenger hunt winners! Congratulations Gold group!

Beth Christensen leads the January meeting.
December 2, 2019 Meeting and Silent Auction
An in-house Holiday Silent Auction was held at the December meeting, where over $2000 was raised to help with extra books to supplement the 2019 Feed and Read event taking place later this month. Here are a sampling of some of the Silent Auction items. More photos can be found on our Facebook page! Check it out!

November 11, 2019 Meeting
A-OK held its first official membership meeting on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019 at the North Mankato Police Annex. Organizing members prepared a potluck dinner preceding the meeting. Close to 40 members were in attendance. The meeting reviewed the goals and mission of A-OK, and its alliances with area youth organizations such as the Back Pack Feed and Read program and My Place (formerly Boys and Girls Club of Mankato). The group decided to hold monthly meetings at this time to stay current, and will have its December meeting on Monday, December 2, same time and place. If you are interested in joining A-OK, send us an email at: aokmankato@gmail.com. We'd love to have you join us!
